John Guckenberger from Troop 99 of Oconomowoc, recently completed work on a canoe/kayak shelter at Harnischfeger Park on the Rock River in Southeast Dodge County. Guckenberger completed the shelter for his Eagle Scout project. The canoe/kayak shelter is one of many recent improvements in the park. A new floating dock has been installed to provide much easier access to the river for fishing and canoeing.

Canoe and kayak rentals are available at Harnischfeger Park, for $15 per half day or $25 per full day. Shuttle service is also available. Contact the park at (920) 474-7178 to make rental arrangements. A new Rock River canoe brochure is available to help plan your trip.

Camping near the canoe launch will begin on Friday, September 2nd. Contact the Dodge County Planning, Development, and Parks Department at (920) 386-3700, or online at for more information.
